               The               United               States               Senate               passed               a               major               Immigration               Bill               in               June               and               the               country               has               been               waiting               for               the               U.S.

House               of               Representatives               to               act               on               the               legislation               ever               since.

At               this               point,               most               political               pundits               predict               that               the               law               will               die               in               the               House.
               According               to               a               study               performed               by               the               Pew               Research               Center,               more               Mexicans               immigrated               to               the               United               States               than               from               any               other               country               in               the               world               -               12               million.

About               30               percent               of               all               current               immigrants               in               the               United               States               were               born               in               Mexico.

Moreover,               the               number               of               Mexican-Americans               in               the               U.S.

-               immigrants               and               U.S.-born               residents               of               Mexican               ancestry               -               continues               to               grow.

The               Mexican-American               population               was               33               million               in               2010,               according               to               a               Pew               Hispanic               Center               study               performed               in               2011.

Many               of               that               33               million               are               children               of               illegal               immigrants               who               were               born               legally               in               the               United               States.
               It               is               obvious               that               regardless               of               what               the               final               vote               is               when               the               House               makes               its               decision,               the               issue               of               immigration               will               not               be               settled.

There               will               be               thousands               if               not               millions               who               will               need               help               to               become               legal               citizens.

He               earned               his               Bachelor's               degree               in               English               from               Tulane               University.

While               earning               his               JD               from               Tulane               he               introduced               to               the               Louisiana               legislature               a               proposal               forcing               pharmacies               to               provide               enhanced               disclosure               on               consumer               prescriptions.

After               graduating               law               school               he               clerked               for               Judge               Edward               Barfield               in               the               First               District               Court               of               Appeals               then               was               appointed               as               an               Assistant               Public               Defender               for               the               Appellate               Division               of               Dade               County               Florida.

In               1994               he               attracted               national               attention               when               he               successfully               represented               more               than               120               women               who               were               injured               as               a               result               of               problems               with               silicone               breast               implants               in               cases               against               pharmaceutical               manufacturers               and               for               his               efforts               to               overcome               tribal               sovereign               immunity               on               behalf               of               injured               clients               against               the               Seminole               Tribe               of               Florida.

He               was               the               subject               of               an               article               in               Top               Verdicts               for               achieving               the               number               one               Dram               Shop               Liability               judgment               of               $8.25               million               in               Florida               in               2011.

Forbes               Magazine               selected               him               as               one               of               the               leading               attorneys               of               the               Southeastern               United               States;               he               was               selected               for               inclusion               in               The               National               Trial               Lawyers:               Top               100,               and               Legal               News               selected               him               as               among               the               top               3               percent               of               attorneys               in               the               country.
