Mother               knows               best.

Syosset,               L.I.,               criminal               attorney               Gary               Schoer,               who               defended               La               Cosa               Nostra               soldier               Jerry               Balzano               after               his               client's               2011               indictment               in               a               federal               mob               crackdown,               says               that               the               family               of               a               Long               Island               doctor               who               is               being               sued               by               her               ex-boyfriend               has               retained               him               to               represent               them.

Schoer               was               contacted               by               the               doctor's               mother               after               she               and               her               husband               were               added               as               defendants               in               the               federal               lawsuit.

Charges               filed               by               the               ex-boyfriend               against               the               doctor               and               her               family               include               counts               for               Fraud,               Abuse               of               Process               and               Unjust               Enrichment.

The               doctor               initially               ignored               the               legal               papers.

She               appeared               to               be               planning               not               to               fight               her               ex-boyfriend's               lawsuit               until               her               mother               stepped               in.

Schoer               the               Shark

Schoer               is               a               familiar               presence               in               the               federal               district               court               in               Central               Islip.

He               represented               defendant               Jerry               Balzano               in               2011               after               a               massive,               widely               reported               FBI               Mob               crackdown.

Balzano               was               one               of               127               members               and               associates               of               The               Mob               facing               counts               ranging               from               possession               of               contraband               cigarettes               to               murder,               extortion               and               loan               sharking.

Balzano               was               allegedly               a               soldier               in               the               DeCavalcante               crime               family,               on               which               "The               Sopranos"               HBO               television               series               was               based.

               Other               past               Schoer               clients               include               a               drug               dealer               caught               in               a               DEA               undercover               sting               and               an               investment               banker               who               was               caught               hiding               income               from               billions               of               dollars               in               capital               he               raised               in               Russia.

He               was               trying               to               reduce               a               $400,000               judgment               for               child               support               payments.


               
               Schoer               also               represented               drug               dealer               Pedro               Enrique               Perez-Rodriguez               and               the               younger               brother               of               a               disbarred               Queens               lawyer,               Gary               Friedman,               to               reduce               his               sentence               in               a               case               involving               extortion,               loan               sharking,               kidnapping,               illegal               drugs               and               murder.

The               doctor               named               in               the               verified               Complaint,               which               was               filed               last               December,               had               not               responded               after               the               legal               papers               were               served               in               February.

Defendants               get               21               days               to               answer               a               legal               Complaint.


               
               But               after               her               mother               and               father               were               added               to               the               lawsuit,               they               engaged               Schoer,               a               Long               Island               native               and               1975               graduate               of               St.

Louis               University               Law               School               in               Missouri.

Schoer               notified               the               federal               court               in               Central               Islip               on               March               27               that               he               would               represent               "Dr.

Jane               Roe"               and               her               parents,               "G.C."               and               "I.S."               
               
               Their               identities               were               redacted               from               legal               papers               following               a               December               ruling               by               federal               Judge               Joseph               Bianco               that               allows               use               of               the               doctor's               applications               as               exhibits               to               the               complaint.

The               civil               lawsuit               was               filed               by               the               doctor's               ex-boyfriend,               plaintiff               Ahdy               Attallah,               a               physician               from               Egypt               who               enrolled               in               medical               school               here               so               that               he               could               practice               in               the               U.S.


               
               Attallah               believes               the               whole               mess               boiled               down               to               one               thing:               Revenge.

He               didn't               want               to               marry               her.


               
               He               is               suing               over               damages               involving               his               medical               school,               the               New               York               College               of               Osteopathic               Medicine               in               Old               Westbury,               N.Y.,               following               a               complaint               accusing               him               of               violating               his               ex-girlfriend's               order               of               protection               and               stalking               her.


               
               He               said,               she               said               
               
               The               unidentified               girlfriend               was               working               at               the               time               as               a               medical               resident               at               Nassau               University               Medical               Center               in               East               Meadow,               N.Y.,               when               she               and               her               parents               approached               hospital               officials               with               the               rumor               that               got               him               expelled.


               
               NYCOM               acted               a               few               days               after               receiving               the               complaint               from               the               hospital.

Attallah               says               he               gave               Dean               Thomas               Scandalis               a               copy               of               the               doctor's               rejected               Connecticut               application               to               prove               he               was               innocent.

But               they               expelled               him               anyway.


               
               Now               he               wants               to               prove,               beyond               a               shadow               of               a               doubt,               that               his               ex-girlfriend               and               her               parents               lied               to               everyone.

He               says               no               one               at               NUMC               or               NYCOM               bothered               to               check               her               story.


               
               If               they               had,               he               says,               they               would               have               quickly               discovered               that               she               never               obtained               an               order               of               protection,               was               never               poisoned,               and               was               lying               about               being               stalked.


               
               He               adds               that               they               should               have               been               suspicious               because               of               the               woman's               sketchy               work               history,               her               credit               rating,               and               her               questionable               academic               record.


               
               Hospital,               College               Co-Defendants               
               
               NYCOM               and               NUMC               are               also               listed               as               defendants               in               his               lawsuit.

NYCOM               has               engaged               Fulbright               &               Jaworski,               the               famous               New               York               legal               powerhouse               of               Watergate               prosecutor               Leon               Jaworski,               to               defend               it               against               Breach               of               Contract               and               several               civil               rights               claims.


               
               Former               Nixon               Peabody               associate               Amy               L.

Ventry-Kagan,               now               a               partner               at               the               Melville,               N.Y.

firm               Littler               Mendelson,               represents               NUMC,               the               hospital               where               the               doctor               worked.


               
               Ventry-Kagan               has               devoted               much               of               her               career               to               representing               large               corporations               and               financial               institutions.

She               attended               Barnard               College               and               Temple               University               School               of               Law.


               
               Not               much               is               yet               known               why               a               frazzled               Hospital               official               contacted               NYCOM               instead               of               its               security               department.

Attallah               points               out               that               most               people               would               contact               police               to               complain               about               a               stalker.
