Joseph Stembridge's blog ::Celebrate National Special Needs Law Month October 2011 with The Powers Law Firm
The United States Senate passed a major Immigration Bill in June and the country has been waiting for the U.S. House of Representatives to act on the legislation ever since. At this point, most political pundits predict that the law will die in the House. According to a study performed by the Pew Research Center, more Mexicans immigrated to the United States than from any other country in the world - 12 million. About 30 percent of all current immigrants in the United States were born in Mexico. Moreover, the number of Mexican-Americans in the U.S. - immigrants and U.S.-born residents of Mexican ancestry - continues to grow. The Mexican-American population was 33 million in 2010, according to a Pew Hispanic Center study performed in 2011. Many of that 33 million are children of illegal immigrants who were born legally in the United States. It is obvious that regardless of what the final vote is when the House makes its decision, the issue of immigration will not be settled. There will be thousands if not millions who will need help to become legal citizens. One law firm that will help is Maney & Gordon. Founded more than 35 years ago and with a staff of more than 100 years of combined legal experience, The Maney Gordon Law Firm has offices in Tampa and Orlando, Florida; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and El Paso, Texas.
